Privacy Policy
Updated 7 November 2026. Rootaxe is not out yet.
The short version. Rootaxe does its work on your own devices. Sensor readings, your screen, what you type on the phone and your pairing keys do not come to our server. There are no ads, no ad tracking, and no analytics or crash-reporting product in the apps.
A few small things do reach our server: a check of which plan you have, a bug report only if you press Send, and your account details only if you choose to sign in. This page lists all of them.
Who we are
Rootaxe makes these apps and this website. Write to us at superrshary@gmail.com.
What stays on your devices
- Motion and sensors. Your Mac's accelerometer and lid angle, your AirPods' head movement and your Apple Watch's wrist movement are read and handled on the device.
- Your screen. Live Screen sends your Mac's screen to the iPhone you paired with it, and nowhere else.
- The camera. The iPhone app uses it only to scan the pairing code your Mac shows.
- Local network and Bluetooth. Local Network finds your paired Mac on your Wi-Fi. Bluetooth is used when you turn on Watch through this iPhone.
- Your settings. Rules, switches, calibration, paired devices and the Today list are kept on the device. The Mac also writes one file a day of the sensor spikes it noticed, with times and strengths. It stays in the app's folder on your Mac, and you can open that folder from the app. Nothing here syncs through iCloud.
The link between your devices is encrypted with a key made when you pair them. On your Mac the app needs Accessibility permission to move the cursor and read which text field has focus, and Screen Recording permission for Live Screen.
What reaches our server
| What | Sent | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Plan check: a random billing ID made on your device, plus your signed App Store transactions, or your licence key if you restore on the Mac | At launch and then regularly, about every 6 hours on the Mac and about hourly on the iPhone. There is no switch for this. | To know which plan you have |
| A request for our on-and-off flags, with the app's name and no ID | While an iPhone or Watch link is on, at the start and every 15 minutes | So we can turn a broken feature off |
| Bug report: an install ID, platform, device model, system version, app version and your note. Also the app's own logs from the last 10 minutes and a picture of the app's window, each of which you can switch off. We keep a record of that install ID with the model, versions and the dates we first and last saw it | Only when you press Send | To fix the bug |
| Account: Apple's sign-in token and your install ID. We store Apple's ID for you, and your email if Apple gives it to us | Only if you choose Sign in with Apple. You don't need an account to use Rootaxe | To reply to you about support |
With each bug report, and in our audit log, our server keeps a shortened hash of your IP address, to limit abuse. A hash like this is not the same as anonymous. The internet relay is not on sale and is off in this version.
Payments
On iPhone and Apple Watch you buy through Apple. On the Mac you buy through Polar, in your browser. Apple and Polar handle your card details under their own privacy policies, and we don't see them. We keep the plan, amount, currency, transaction reference and the store's record of the event. When you open a Polar checkout, our server gives Polar your billing ID and your IP address, which Polar asks for to work out tax.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare hosts our server and database.
- Apple for App Store purchases and Sign in with Apple.
- Polar for Mac purchases.
Our staff can read support tickets and bug reports, and can add notes to an account. An AI assistant helps draft support replies and can read a report's note and logs. A person reads each draft and sends it.
This website
This website has no form, no analytics and no ad tracking, and sets no cookies. It remembers your sound setting in your own browser. Vercel hosts it and handles the requests your browser makes. The Discord link takes you to Discord, which handles what you do there under its own privacy policy.
How long we keep it
- Bug report screenshots and logs are deleted after 180 days. The note you wrote stays with the ticket.
- Sign-ins last 30 days, and their records are deleted 30 days after that.
- We haven't set how long we keep device records, spike files, payment records, audit records, staff notes or tickets. When we do, this page will say.
Your choices
- If you signed in, you can ask for your account to be deleted from the iPhone or Mac app, and export your data from the Mac app. We act on a delete request within 30 days. Payment amounts are kept for accounting, with your identity removed.
- A bug report sent with no account carries your note, your Mac or iPhone model, system and app version, any logs or picture you chose to attach, and a random install ID. Logs and pictures are removed after 180 days. The note stays. Today nobody can find or delete one of these by its ID.
- You can ask us about your data at superrshary@gmail.com.
Children
Rootaxe isn't made for children, and the apps have no age check.
Changes
We will change the date above when this page changes, and say so in the app if the change matters to you.
